Janet Schulman, MSW, MPA, Interim Executive Director, is a recognized leader in the nonprofit sector with more than 35 years of experience in executive positions. Janet began her social work career in the Boston Children’s Services Dept. In Los Angeles she was a social worker at LA County Health Department health clinics and drug detoxification facilities. Janet was the Founding Executive Director of Big Sisters of Los Angeles and the CEO of Special Olympics Southern California. She transitioned to becoming an Interim Executive Director to agencies in transition and has successfully helped organizations of all sizes and types to strengthen their agencies to better meet their missions for the past 10 years. Throughout her career, both as a social worker doing direct services and in management, she has worked with diverse populations experiencing trauma, abuse, poverty and other critical life challenges. Janet also teaches leadership institutes and coaches non-profit executive directors. Janet was adjunct faculty at American Jewish University where she taught Executive Leadership in the MBA program. She currently teaches the Wells Fargo Executive Leadership Institute at Executive Service Corps. Janet also volunteers and serves on the Board of a number of nonprofit organizations.
