Maggie Shackelford, M.A., M.S.W Candidate, Program Manager, provides comprehensive clinical case management services, crisis intervention, counseling, and program management at PTV. Her tenure at PTV began in 2011, when she started as a development coordinator and then transitioned to case manager, and ultimately to program manager. Maggie is pursuing her second master’s degree in social work (MSW) at California State University, Northridge; she will graduate in May 2018. During her first year internship, Maggie provided psychotherapy services to children and their families at D’Veal Family and Youth Services in Pasadena. Maggie’s second year internship is at the LA Department of Mental Health providing psychotherapy services to adults. Maggie received a Master of Art degree in American History from the College of William & Mary in Virginia in 2011. She received her Bachelor of Art degree in History from UCLA in 2005. From April 2013 to December 2014, Maggie served as treasurer in the executive leadership of the LA County Refugee Forum. In addition to her work at PTV, Maggie volunteered for over two years as a Crisis Counselor Advocate for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence at Peace Over Violence, a LA rape crisis and domestic violence agency. Prior to her graduate studies, Maggie served as a junior staff member for three years for Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa. At the College of William and Mary, Maggie served as the programming coordinator for international students and scholars, helping international students transition to life in America. Maggie brings her steadfast personal commitment to social justice and human rights and professional experience to the PTV family.
