PRESIDENT TRUMP ON VERGE OF REDUCING REFUGEE ADMISSIONS TO ALL-TIME HISTORIC LOW
We need your urgent help. The Trump administration has quietly planned to close the door to thousands of refugees fleeing war and violence.
Famine, war, and violence have displaced a record 65 million people worldwide, yet as we speak, President Trump is currently considering reducing the number of refugee admittances to the U.S. to an all-time record low. This will create massive chaos and hurt thousands of refugees already waiting in camps around the world. It will also force many of these desperate refugees to seek out smugglers and other exploitative dealers who will take advantage of their desperation, placing them in the line of further peril or human rights abuse.
We need your help to ensure that America remains a welcome refuge and safe haven to those fleeing war, torture, and persecution. Now is the time to help us send a collective message to Congress and the White House that we stand with refugees.
The U.S. admits on average 94,000 refugees each year, with President Obama recommending 110,000 to adequately address the growing humanitarian crises of displaced people due to the war in Syria and other global conflicts. The Trump administration is signalling that it intends to reduce the number of refugees admitted annually to 50,000–with some in the White House even advocating for an inhumane limit of 15,000–which would set an all-time historic low.
Up to 44% of refugees who come to the US are survivors of torture or persecution. The refugee crisis is a torture crisis. We must urgently tell Congress that the U.S. must continue to admit at least 75,000 refugees for Fiscal Year 2018. Please make your voice heard by making a call to your local representative. Your advocacy matters and can help tip the scales to ensure those desperate for safety can find refuge.

For President Donald J. Trump’s Office:
“I’m your constituent from [CITY/TOWN], and I strongly support refugee resettlement. I urge you to do everything in your power to see that the administration resettles at least 75,000 refugees in 2018. As we face a global refugee crisis with more than 65 million refugees, U.S. resettlement strengthens our national security, encourages other countries to keep their doors open to refugees, and advances our foreign policy interests. I call on you to protect the U.S. refugee resettlement program. My community welcomes refugees, and I urge you to reflect the best of our American values of compassion and hospitality.”
The time for action is now. Please help me ensure that the U.S. does not abandon vulnerable refugees fleeing war, persecution or torture.
